We could have added the snow in post-production, using a camera depth map to make foreground
objects cover snowflakes farther back. We were not sure that would look good, so instead we chose
to simulate each snowflake directly in the 3D scene (requiring a 10 GB cache file). The snowflakes
are small cloudy balls that shine with their own white light to create the cartoony look we were
going for.
